A cute memory came to the fore front of my busy little brain tonight and I thought I'd jot it down.
One day when my daughter was young, I was in the house when she came bursting through the door excitedly and said "Mom, Mom, the Autry Blimp is outside. I looked at her puzzled for a minute because I thought I misunderstood her and asked her to repeat it. She said, "the Autry Blimp" is outside. I said "S, there is no such thing as an Autry Blimp. She said "yes there is, it's the Autry Blimp and it's outside right now!!" Instead of just going outside to see, I began to argue with her about whether an Autry Blimp existed. She get's frustrated when she's not believed and she started to cry and said "Mommy I know it's the Autry Blimp because V said it was". I finally went outside to see what she was talking about. There, hovering over the neighborhood, were the three blimps in the area at the time. V, my neighbor, was from West Virginia. She obviously told S that "all three blimps" were there in her cute little accent and S heard them as "Autry Blimp"
Her little face looked so cute when I explained to her what V really said. We've laughed about that story a few times through the years.
